Bio
Hello. I’m Michele.
I was born in Rome, studied in Rome and Montréal, and chose Quebec as the place to do my work. Ten years helping Quebec nonprofits and foundations with the choices that shape their trajectory. Strategic plans, theory of change, impact measurement, narrative, philanthropy.
I built my practice at Credo Impact, then at Republik, where I led strategic philanthropy mandates for five years. I’ve seen the large organizations and the small ones, the established foundations and the family foundations just getting started. I understood where I’m most useful: with mid-stage Quebec nonprofits that have outgrown instinct but can’t afford a full-time senior director. That’s the work I do today: philanthropic strategy consulting, on a fractional basis.
FILO was born from that reading. A fractional practice, augmented by artificial intelligence, rooted in Quebec. A voice at your table, for the length of a mandate or for the long run.
Background.
FILO (Conseil FILO)
Founder. A fractional impact strategy practice, augmented by AI, for Quebec nonprofits and foundations.
Republik
Director of Research and Impact. Leading philanthropic mandates for Quebec foundations and national nonprofits. Research, narrative, theory of change, measurement.
Credo Impact
Impact strategy consulting. Early mandates in impact measurement and communications for the nonprofit sector.
Education
MBA, HEC Montréal. Specialization in sustainable development.
Master’s in Political Science, LUISS Guido Carli. Rome.
Organizations I’ve worked with.
How I work.
Every mandate ends with decisions made, with an action plan, dates and owners. The strategic report gathering dust in a drawer is the most common failure of the profession.
I take on a limited number of mandates at a time. Strategic leadership requires presence: I do the work myself, from the first interview to board adoption.
I use AI every day in my work. It lets me go further, faster, cross-reference more sources and deliver more rigorous documents. The judgment stays mine.
